                                                                             Items

This page has a small sample of items one can find in the Mines of Montparsa and the Caves beneath.

Potions are arguably the most important item for adventurers. They are bottles of liquid that a character drinks for some effect, typically restoration of vitals- stamina, mana, or hit points. Potions of Energy restore Stamina, Potions of Healing restore hit points, and the Magic, Ether, and Black Lotus Potions restore mana. There are also potions which restore all three vitals, and still others which don't do anything like the others at all.

Armor will reduce the damage you take from physical attacks that hit you. Only physical attacks are reduced in power this way; magic is unaffected. Some special types of armor can reduce magical damage as well, however. Armor can be equipped on your body (normal), hand (shield), or head (helmet).

Weapons are required to use the weapon-attack skills, such as Sword and Pound. Your character must have the correct kind of weapon equipped to use the skill- for instance, a Warhammer for Hammer, Pound, or Doom Blow. Some weapons give you extra levels in these weapon skills, which are added to their user's level in the skill while the weapon is equipped. Most of them do not, however, contain "charges" (see Wands and Staves, below), and therefore do a character who can't ordinarily use that skill little good. Weapons are, at the moment, all equipped in your hand. Some weapons require 2 hands.

Rings go on your fingers. Some provide protection similar to armor, others produce magical effects such as regeneration of vitals, and still others have skill "charges" stored in them, which work similarly to the charges stored in wands and staves (see below).

Wands and Staves (plural of Staff) are used in the hands. Wands use one hand and are generally less powerful, staves use two, and are generally more. They normally store skill "charges," which is to say that they have levels in some skills, and the power to use them one or more times. If a character has the skills the item contains, then the item increases the character's skill levels like a weapon. A character who doesn't have the stored skills, however, can still use the skills in the item, at the cost of using up its charge power. Items which run out of charge power can't be used to produce their skills until they are recharged somehow.
